How do one prevent pasta from sticking together?
1. LOTS OF WATER
Make sure you have enough water in the pot so that the amount of pasta you are adding will float freely and have heaps of space to expand while absorbing water and becoming fatter and stickier.
2. A ROLLING BOIL
Make sure the water is at a rolling boil when you add the dried pasta and add the pasta gradually instead of all at once in case the temperature of the water drops fast and all the pasta travels to the bottom.
Use a spoon with a long handle or a bbq tong to encourage the pasta to seperate. Stir, pull and shake.
4. ROLLING BOIL AGAIN
Once the water is back to a rolling boil the movement of the boiling water will continue to keep the pasta seperate and prevent it from sticking. Make sure the water level stays high enough
5. OIL IT!
Once youve strained the pasta, add some oil and stir through preventing from cooked pasta to stick together once cooled.
